About Us At 5ab Care, we want to be doing right by the child morally by keeping the quality of care to the highest standard we can. This will involve helping the children both mentally and physically, as I feel all children's needs have the right to be served. Increasing a child's confidence, self-esteem and personal skills is something we aim to do, as we are aware that these are traits they can put to use in adult life. Also understanding, that the children may have a lack of these, due to the circumstances they may have been in. We’ve started this journey into Children's care because 5ab Care want to make positive differences to Children’s lives, and empower the young people to make the right choices in life going forward. The children's welfare is imperative to our home. Therefore, we must ensure we are recruiting staff that have the same regard for welfare as us. Staff will be trained on the Risk assessment process, which will then highlight any areas of training we may have to implement e.g. sexual exploitation, internet safety etc. Whilst we will be proactive in training and CPD for staff, any issues/concerns will also be addressed in the regular key worker sessions. All staff that have been through the recruitment process and have been successful in gaining the role, there will be a period of induction. Within the induction period they will receive mandatory training on child protection, safeguarding food hygiene, intervention and how to administer medicine. The Registered Manager will then identify any additional training requirements the staff may need, and ensure the staff know why they are taking the additional training. The additional training will all depend on the individual needs of the child placed with the home, i.e. alcohol/substance misuse, self harming, autistic spectrum disorder. We want to be proactive as employers. We want to be able to provide a homely environment for children, so will be proactively looking at the child's interests e.g. if they like a certain colour or football team, and decorate their room accordingly.
